BoomWriter and Walch Education have formed a partnership to provide world-class educational technology solutions.
FREMONT, CA: EdTech improves education by enabling schools and students to manage and access individualized digital content on any device and tutoring when necessary. BoomWriter Media, an EdTech developer, and publisher based in Milton, has merged with education powerhouse Walch Education. This establishes the combined company as the top provider of apps supporting fundamental educational principles.
“This is a perfect merger of capabilities,” states Al Noyes, CEO of Walch. “Walch brings a platform that has been used for over 50 years and now we are adding the engagement applications for reading and writing in the classroom.”
As the parent firm will be named, BW Walch delivers comprehensive solutions for schools and teachers to create engaging in-class experiences and improve learning results for students of all ages.
Over 1 million registered users of BW Walch's technology solutions combined. In March 2022 alone, more than six million reading logs and over seventy-two thousand novels were written using collaborative writing tools. In 2020/21, the two companies released both GoRead and the Curriculum Engine. GoRead got the top prize at the BETT Awards, and Curriculum Engine, the math flagship, won a Tech Edvocate award. Hundreds of classrooms use Curriculum Engine and BW Walch's math curriculum, with tens of thousands of students attaining great results.
Before the merger, BoomWriter purchased the United Kingdom-based companies Squirrel Learning and Axe Edge to expand operations and service solutions that enable teachers to modernize classroom learning. BoomWriter has previously invested in the company's platform, establishing a long-standing connection with Squirrel.
These acquisitions were made possible by both organic revenue growth and a substantial investment from Scale Capital venture partner and SimpleTV chairman Alexander Elorriaga. Mr. Elorriaga will also serve as a strategic advisor for BoomWriter. Mr. Elorriaga brings edutainment expertise to the BoomWriter team by virtue of his significant background in the television industry and track record of running large-scale operations.
“With so many start-ups in the EdTech industry there will be inevitable consolidation and lots of elimination of fledgling companies,” adds Chris Twyman, founder of BoomWriter. “Bringing Walch and BoomWriter together gets us ahead of the curve and together we provide a greater portfolio of engaging educational solutions.”
"BoomWriter is producing magic in the classroom," states Mr. Elorriaga. "The blurring of the entertainment and education world is the holy grail for increasing engagement in the classroom. BoomWriter does this without sacrificing the delivery of a rounded educational experience."
